Kiwi North and our visit to the Planetarium

What an amazing time we had on our visit to Kiwi North and the Planetarium.

It was our first ever school trip and the first time on a bus for some too!  There was a buzz of excitement on the way to Kiwi North and this enthusiasm did not waive on the way back to school either.

We had a fabulous time in the Planetarium exploring the night sky.  We saw the Milky Way, Matariki, and many more constellations.  There was much to learn and discover.  Anne told us many wonderful and interesting facts.

We had fun in the education centre pretending to be planets and seeing how far apart the planets are to each other.

Then it was time for lunch on the Village Green... and much to our delight, there were even baby chicks wandering around with their mother.

After lunch, it was time more discovering at the Museum, where we learnt more about Matariki and the significance of this special constellation for Maori.

Wow!  It was a fun and busy day together.

A big thank you to our parents and grandparents who were able to join us for the day.

Mrs B told us about her visit to the Planetarium in the night time and how she was able to look through the large telescope and see Saturn and it's amazing rings.  She said it was a really fun night out with her son and his class.

Celebrating Father's Day

We have taken time this week to reflect on the importance of the men in our lives.  This may be our grandfathers, fathers, uncles and step fathers.

The role these men play in our lives is huge as they are often the role models to whom our children look up to and respect.

We looked at piece of art created by a German illustrator, Ina Hattenhauer, and this provided a fabulous inspiration for our artwork.

Our Father's Day was displayed during our Father's Day Liturgy on the Friday afternoon.

PMP

Term 3 is a wonderful time for gaining a greater awareness of our bodies and how they move.  Our junior classes are enjoying the new St Joseph's learning space for our PMP this term.

We have been having a great time climbing, crawling, jumping, throwing, bouncing and rolling over the last few weeks at PMP.  This is a time when we learn more about ourselves through movement and motor experiences.

Here we are in action....
